1. Name

a. Product Name: You can register the name of a particular product as a brand. Apple iPod is a trademark of the product name.

C. Person's First / Last Name - If your name plays an important role in generating income, you can even register your name! Example: Shah Rukh Khan recorded his name.

D. Abbreviations: Abbreviations for a company or brand can also be a trademark. Ex: BMW.

2. Logo / Symbol

It is highly recommended that you register a logo as a trademark because it visually represents your brand. Your customers can remember a logo faster than a name. A great example of a brand logo is the Nike "swoosh".

3. Motto

If you have a slogan for your brand, you can go ahead and register it too. A slogan tells your customers what you stand for as a company. For example, KFC's "Lick Your Fingers Good".

4. Other options

a. Color Marking: You can register a color or a combination of colors. (Example: Cadbury recorded the royal blue color)

B. Sound Trademark: Musical notes or sounds may be trademarks if we can prove it is distinctive. Nokia recorded your melody.

C. Olfactory trademark: perfumes can also be trademarks.
